Gun violence has been a heated topic for the past few years. Yujia’s exhibit focused on the issue of gun related violence that includes mass shootings, gun violence in different countries, the number of children killed by guns since Newton, etc. She displayed a map in her gallery to point out the places where gun violence happened during the last 72 hours in America. LED lights show the number of people who are victims of gun violence every single day.
Yujia’s gallery is to show the harsh realities of gun violence. She mentioned how a lot of people are oblivious to what is really going on in this country. She came to find that schools and businesses are most at-risk for shootings. Because of this, she wanted to spread more understanding to her audience. She emphasizes the importance to have knowledge on gun control.
Last year it felt as though there was a shooting almost everyday. I heard of so many opinions of whether to have stricter gun laws or not. This gallery was very powerful as it is an important issue of our time.
